WS 19: Servicing a SEIKO Chronograph 6138

A closer view from the movement from the side still being on the Vibrograf microphone holder. I simply find this view beautiful. The movement leaves an impression of being thoroughly designed and yet compact. And in addition full of features providing for easier maintenance. I am not saying that this movement is easy to service, but if SEIKO did not have thought "ahead" when designing it, it would be a lot tougher.

Some dimensions: The Valjoux 72 hand wind (no rotor and no automatic winding system) measures 7.2 mm in height. The 6138 including the rotor and automatic winding system measures mere 8.3 mm! Cabalists will easily find a way to remember those measurements. And SEIKO gets yet another compliment for building such a slim automatic chronograph!
