And it did match and now the protruding cannon pinion looked like it would provide the necessary clearance between the hands! For the first time I started feeling optimistic again as it is in my nature.
Put the dial back on, put the hands on - WORKING! YIPEE!
Finally, all the efforts had finally paid off. And I had a crash course in quartz watch repair in one single project. And this is the way I tend to look at setbacks. Take the lesson and go ahead! Today I think it was a very interesting project and I also think what great experiences I would have missed if that initial battery placement would have done the job. I always think that failures of watches provide great opportunities for us learning WIS.
