Not far from the previous picture on Pedder Road, I had really luck to find a gap in the stampeding traffic to shoot these very typical street shops. STD and ISD and PCO and FAX and XEROX will accompany you the minute you land at the international airport of Bombay. ISD stands for International Subscription Dialing and I remember very well the difficulties I had 5 years ago when I tried to order two ISDN lines for the video conferencing system. In only 5 years I have experienced a remarkable boost in technological awareness in Bombay. I was very impressed by the skills and friendliness of the Indicom TATA (the engineering conglomerate that also owns TITAN watches) technicians that met during this project. And where in the world will you find a hotline that answers the phone promptly (without navigating you through a cascade of button pushes) on a Friday evening at 19:00 and asks you whether they should send their technicians to you right away? Not in Europe, hm ...
