Why I think this
watch is interesting:
In 1997 SEIKO released the first ever Kinetics Chronograph. And the first
limited edition looked almost identical to the Sportura below. I remember, I
immediately wanted one. "No Sir, we got only 7 for whole Thailand and they
are all sold on the first day. The retail price was THB 89'000 (ca. USD
3'560) Sir. And the
price by now is probaby double that (ca. USD 7'000)". This anecdote is
just to illustrate how hot those first Kinetic Chronographs were and still
are!
Now the watch is finally available again. I have the
Arctura Kinetic Chronograph
in my private collection. I like mine a lot, but since I was so much in love
with the original futuristic and avant-garde looking original one, I have
never really forgotten it! And my picture of the
Arctura Kinetic Chronograph was obviously
so good, that the STUFF MAGAZINE
(Singapore Edition talking about 40 very hot watches that should be in every
collection) stole my picture and published it in one of their
issues. I only found out about this after the largest Thai Newspaper "Thairat"
(I still have a copy of it on my desk because I am still following up on
this copyright violation) stole the picture
from the STUFF MAGAZINE.
Strange times indeed when the printed media steel from the internet!
But
one thing is clear, those watches and pictures of them are very hot. If you
want a watch that will start watch discussions or attract looks, then go for
this one. It is really a Chronograph that is easy to use, easy to read.
Mechanically powered with Quartz accuracy. What more could you wish for?
