The Swiss ligne is ca. 2.256 millimeters and close to the "English line" or the "French ligne". Most watches today - e.g. the ubiquitous 2824-2 are 11.5 ligne or 25.60 millimeters in diameter. Ligne is often also written as e.g. 7.75''' or 7 3/4'''. A traditional "line" or "ligne" (French for line) is 1/12 inch and ca. 2.1166 millimeter. Please note that the Swiss ligne used in watchmaking is slightly larger: 2.256 millimeters and correspongs to 12 points
