Affordable Case Openers

The prices for those case openers are just too good to pass. I have a lot of fun opening my inexpensive watches. There is a lot of enjoyment you could get from glimpsing at the innards of your watches.

I had the luck of being introduced into watch servicing by a good friend and I can tell you, once you start working on your watches, the way you look at them will entirely change and you probably develop a new and much stronger strain of WISease (WIS: watch idiot savant, WISease, watch idiot savant disease).

Affordable China Made Case Openers for SCREWED case backs with notches (groves)

Japan Made Opener
for snap-on case backs
Case Opener Steel with black Plastic Handle with two bit pairs. One bit pair for older screwed case backs as often found on 70ies vintage watches. We do not recommend to use this side of the opener. It is much safer to use those older polygonal watch backs with a polygonal key. Those keys are often for sale (not on PMWC) as a key set.
This opener is ideal for all watch case backs with notches. A picture of a typical watch back with notches is inside. Maximum bit width 34 mm. E.g. a Sandoz 40 mm (case width without crown) has a distance of 29 mm between the notches, thus this opener will fit.

Case Opener Brass. Opens most modern water resistant watch cases with notches. Maximum bit width 32 mm. E.g. a Sandoz 40 mm (case width without crown) has a distance of 29 mm between the notches, thus this opener will fit. Even this tool is slightly more difficult to use for beginners due to the higher distance from the bits to the handle (tilting risk when applying torque), it's nice looks and the fact that it is milled out of brass entirely, made me re-introduce this tool again. Even if you are only "collecting" watch tools (rarely use them), this one is a very nice collectible watch tools in my eyes

Made in China

Snap-on Case Opener made by MKS (Japan). This is a very practical (portable) case opener for all case backs that are NOT screwed and are simply lifted up. HOW TO use this opener?
1) Find the groove in the case back
2) Insert the blade of the opener
3) Twist the opener to lift the back
