LONGINES, Swiss Made

LONGINES is definitely one of the big names in the Swiss watch industry and has a firm place in the hall of fame of Swiss watch development. Before the quartz revolution made timekeeping a matter of dollars, OMEGA and LONGINES had been the official Olympic Timekeepers and you could see the LONGINES logo during almost every sports broadcast. One of the most famous LONGINES lines is the Conquest which is being produced for probably 30 years now.
I have seen the LONGINES factory in St. Imier, in the heart of the Jura, the epicenter of the Swiss watch industry. I remember having spent the Christmas vacation there in a small hotel in the town center of St. Imier. It was a beautiful sunny winter day, during the night 20 cm of fresh snow had fallen. I still remember my surprise when looking out of the room window for the first time, there it was, that huge rectangular building with the famous LONGINES wings. I had no idea that the small hotel had such a great view!
