Fidelio Quartz Dress Watch, ca. 1987
After I had not bought very expensive watches, this was quite expensive, around USD 1000 in 1987. The excuse for this purchase was, that I had just started to work at Digital Equipment Corporation and the computer industry did well in the 80ies. The effect was, that many more in this price league should follow!
The watch measures "only" 32.5 mm across. It's most amazing feature is probably it's height: it is 4.5 mm THIN! By today's (2009) standards 32.5 is considered "ridiculously" small. In 1987 when I bought it, it felt perfectly right for my 16.5 cm wrist. Due to the large dial and the wide bracelet, the watch looks actually much bigger then a boy-size watch.
