and of course 1997 is also the year of the handover of the crown colony Hong Kong back to the Chinese Mainland. 50 years until 2047 are granted for the so called "Special Administrative Region" (SAR) that gives Hong Kong special rights amongst the Chinese cities in order to smoothen the integration or transition to a Chinese city.
