Battery Replacement and more
This is the standard for many Citizens and also other quartz movements. After replacing the battery if there is nothing or some random setting displayed on the LCD, then simply pull out the crown, and press down all the push buttons. This methods resets many analog digital quartz watch movements, not only from Miyota (Citizen). Of course if you have a manual ready, follow the instructions there please.
Of course his can be used at anytime (some models you do not need to pull the crown)  to reset the digital display. Some watches will show all LCD segments during that procedure, a visual check whether all LCD segments are working. I often use this method also to "find new functions" on watches I had not been wearing for a while. All those tiny function letterings will help you remember that there is ALM1, ALM2 etc.
