Casio Edifice Tough Solar 5289 (Cased in China), June 2013

A uncluttered beautiful looking dial
I have mentioned the progress in design quality of the Edifice models of today. Despite the many functions, the dial is not cluttered. Some elements are kept in a discrete grey: the charging level of the battery (HIGH, MED, LOW), the DST, STD, AT time setting and the Alarm ON and OFF. Also CASIO's designers have managed to maintain an almost symmetrical layout by very cleverly combining different elements into ONE large sub dial at 6 o'clock. This sub dial contains the indicators for Weekdays, Stop Watch (ST) and World Timer (WT) and on the left side a counter for 10 laps including fastest lap (FL). At 12 o'clock you find the second time zone.
Despite its size of 42.5 mm, the watch sits nicely on the wrist. The lugs are pointing downward and thus hug the small and large wrist nicely. The watch has a very nice and consistent design. As with many Edifices, the crown guard is mirrored on the 3 o'clock side adding to the symmetrie of the watch.
