When Seiko provides service centers on par with Rolex, then, and only then... - 12 days ago
will they get the recognition they deserve. Unquestionably, the quality of those Grand Seiko's are equal to or better than the best made.by johnizy - Poor Man's Watch Forum I know watch technology is advancing, but this far?? - 5 weeks ago
The Seiko Astron is new to me, but perhaps I am just behind the times. The fact that it automatically adjusts to your time zone is something I thought I would never see, and certainly never heard of. We folks who love our mechanical watches may someday be considered old fools, and our watches, well just plain old OLD. http://www.seiko-astron.com/#/lineUp/model01/by johnizy - Poor Man's Watch Forum Quinting watches featured on, "How Do They Do It".. - 2 months ago

Chronographs! I dislike all the dials and other nonsense (at least to me) that clutters the dial just to enable the use of a Chronograph about once every five years or so. What I dislike even more is that at least 80% of the watches on display at any retailer is a Chronograph. Now that tells me that they must be selling well and that my taste is weird to say the least. Don't get me wrong.by johnizy - Poor Man's Watch Forum Great catch! Please post a photo of the CAL mode. - 3 months ago

kept it for 10 years. It had a Chev. 327 cu. in. V8 and a three speed column shift. The interior was gorgeous for its day. No car I have ever owned came close to drawing attention as it did. Every time a parked it, someone would be gauking at it when I returned. Because it was faily rare, few knew what it was.by johnizy - Poor Man's Watch Forum Sorry to hear Johnny. n/tby johnizy - Poor Man's Watch Forum Need help finding a watch for my wife: - 9 months ago
She wants a ladies dress watch with a perpetual calendar (date or day-date). She would prefer one that does not need batteries, but not mechanical either (mechanicals are too large). I tried searching the net but am unable to find such an animal. I am guessing that the perpetual calendar electronic chips are too large for a ladies watch. Can anyone help?by johnizy - Poor Man's Watch Forum The Black Knight was nice but I like that one a little more - good choice. - 9 months ago

I get along just fine with my Microsoft/Intel desktop sporting an Intel, i7, 2600K with dual high resolution (1920 x 1200) 24" monitors, and an ordinary cell phone using Trackphone. Several years ago I purchased a fancy wireless HP laptop but ended up giving it to my daughter because I seldom used it. n/tby johnizy - Poor Man's Watch Forum Nice video. However, the dial on that Retrograde 43,200 bph is not my cup of tea. - 11 months ago
It's a shame to put such a terrible face on a great movement. In fact, as far as I am concerned, Seikos' entire line of "Retrograde" is far outside of my tastes.by johnizy - Poor Man's Watch Forum Speaking of engines, you may appreciate this link: The Worlds smallest V12 Diesel - 11 months ago

Chris, I guess the problem is that I do not need to wear glasses except for reading. When I sit down to read I put on glasses and its worth it, but putting on glasses just to glance at my watch is a quite inconvenient.by johnizy - Poor Man's Watch Forum What do you say? - 1 year ago
After I snapped on my trusty Seiko this mourning my wife says, "Why aren't you wearing your Rolex?" I said, "Because with those small hands and my poor eyesight, I can hardly tell what time it is with it." She says, "You don't wear your watch to tell the time, you wear it to look good." I scratched my head and wondered, is she right. Anyway, I put away my Seiko and snapped on the Rolex.by johnizy - Poor Man's Watch Forum Bobby: Hope you are over 18; the big Uncle says "no farm work if not".
