I actually agree with you, but I can see both sides - 26 days ago
As a watch lover I want most of my watches to tell the time, but I also see a 'watch' as an item of mechanical jewellery which doesn't have to tell the time. This one does both!by JY - Poor Man's Watch Forum Re: I guess the idea is to make the time-telling an 'ocassional' activity... - 26 days ago
...so wearing it 'dial out' wouldn't be a priority. The curved lugs don't help either - if they were straight it would be easier to wear either way.by JY - Poor Man's Watch Forum Re: So, go ahead and get out the crystal press, and assemble it that way. - 26 days ago
Assembly wouldn't be a problem, but I'd have to make sure the crystal could be grabbed by a puller or I'd never get it off again without breaking it!by JY - Poor Man's Watch Forum My new whimsical project watch - it doesn't tell the time...or does it? - 26 days ago
I have this idea that the modern watch has transcended its original purpose and doesn't actually need to tell the time - any mobile phone can do that perfectly well. Of course this challenges the notion of what constitutes a 'watch' and lots of people can't get their head around it, but I like the concept - not that I'm suggesting that no watch should tell the time, just that there is a place inby JY - Poor Man's Watch Forum Your Amphibia is lustworthy - 29 days ago
And your home-grown case finish looks excellent - the 3M pad is a great idea and obviously works great. Two thumbs up from me.by JY - Poor Man's Watch Forum G'day all. I'm finding it hard to seperate my project watch from my wrist, but it's so darned comfortable! - 4 weeks ago

I'm going to Greece in a month: Delphi, Thessaloniki and Athens (plus some day trips), but not to Crete unfortunately.by JY - Custom Watches by PMWFers Re: I love that the bottom plate of the movement can be glimpsed thru the perforated metal. - 5 weeks ago
Thanks and yeah, that was the concept. I thought it would look better than an opaque dial and I bought the gold finished Unitas movement with that in mind.by JY - Custom Watches by PMWFers It's been a long time between drinks, but I've been dabbling in watch surgery... G'day all, it's been a while and I hope that you are all well! So, a gazillion things have been going on in my life over the last few months, including coming to terms with severely limited watch funds thanks to a never-ending home extension and now a son at university interstate - if you want to figure out how to dispose of any excess $ try either of these things, let alone both!
