Watched the testing vid yesterday on Speedhunters. n/tby 8beep - Poor Man's Watch Forum Yes, I am just a leather strap guy. My bid was fair, these are gaining value I think. - 4 weeks ago
n/tby 8beep - Poor Man's Watch Forum A nice Pro Jelly. I was WATCHing this one on eBay for a while, and decided to make a low offer without expecting it to be accepted, and won it! all the way from it's home in Portugal. There are lots of nice divers out there, but this one was on my mind 24/7 since I had seen it (watch dreams can be tricky!). When I learned that the production was actually quite small, (something like 75 of each color) I decidedby 8beep - Poor Man's Watch Forum A white Frankenmonster ? I love it! I have had an interest in the limited Snow Monsters, but wanted to explore my own version of a white dialed monster, since I do have a Frankenmonster that has always wanted more attention. what do you guys think of this combo? Sort of different! I think it's sort of outside of the norm, but still neat and functional. I decided to put away the black monster dial for now to try this brown 5 dial with the right number fonts. also switched to a brown strap to go with the dial. I think this is more in the direction of the Eterna-Matic Kontiki Super that suits the IDF bezel and started my inspiration in the first place. I just used some appropriate C3 silver sword hands I already had, which work well,by 8beep - Custom Watches by PMWFers I wanted to keep the pepsi bezel, that's all. - 8 weeks ago
n/tby 8beep - Custom Watches by PMWFers I liked the pepsi dial, so I picked the 009.. - 8 weeks ago
I actually have been wearing the 009 all original for the last two weeks, and it is really great. I kept all the parts neatly tucked away for the future. I just found that I've been wanting to tinker with my other Seikos, but they all have good looking setups now, and I wanted one of these divers to allow my freedom of watch tinkering whenever I feel like it. Decided to buy an SKX009J1 just to keep my tinkering under control I put this together today with parts from Jake at Dagaz/10watches. The strap is a Panatime black Galaxy that has a rubberized appearance that suits a diver well enough, although not so appropriate for diving. There's some elements that bug me, like the lack of lume pip on the bezel, and the numbers and holes on the diby 8beep - Custom Watches by PMWFers Franken got more monster today. - 2 months ago
Frankenmonster today, with new hands this morning from Jake at Dagaz. I think it looks much better like this, and even more lume.by 8beep - Poor Man's Watch Forum I'd rather have a 2014 SS and buy a watch with the savings. n/tby 8beep - Poor Man's Watch Forum Sort of my own fault. - 3 months ago
I had not selected the DST setting properly. It was in "Auto DST" which I thought would be fine if I picked GMT -5 Hours. It seems I have to manually tell it that I am using DST.. which defeats the purpose! haha. I'll just continue to trust my super trusty Emerson Smartset atomic digital clock radio, which is always right, and sets itself without ANY fiddling. My only atomic, a Casio Waveceptor WVQ500, decided that, even this morning, and two manual signal grabs, it would still not acknowledge the DST change. I'll stick with my autos haha.by 8beep - Poor Man's Watch Forum |
