It is the Model GW-M850.
It seems to be discontinued, and the black ones are mostly gone in the US. I got mine from a Canadian ebayer. Amazon still has the white ones.
I was looking for a pretty specific feature set, and I wasn't sure I could find it in a G-Shock, other than the old GW-5600E.
- Solar/atomic
- Kind of on the dressy side
- Countdown timer
- At least one multifunction alarm
- Not too big for my small wrist (6-7/8" or 174mm) (It's 42mm)
- Not too big to fit under shirt sleeves (it's 14mm thick and has rounded edges)
The problem features are the multifunction alarm and countdown timer, which are not on that many models of G-Shock any more.
It's feels great so far. Casio has improved on their already great G-Shock ergonomic design by covering the screws for the back with rubber, so it pulls even less hair than my old GW-5600E. The inside of the strap is concave, so there's less resin in contact with the wrist, and it doesn't seem to get as sweaty as my old 5600.
The stainless steel bezel is kind of a classy touch, in my opinion.
We'll see how it fares, long-term.
