I normally choose to wear a different watch every day, but when I travel I take only one. My choice on a recent trip was this new-to-me Shanghai 1524, and for almost three weeks it was a reliable daily wearer.

I like the pie pan dial. It and rest of the watch’s parts appear to be correct for a 1524.

The date code on the 21,600 bph SS1A-K is HC, March 1973.

A later Shanghai product is this 7120, also with a pie pan dial.

I don’t remember seeing another pie pan 7120, well, ever. The case is unusual for a 7120 too.

It may be difficult to see because of its condition and my inadequate photographic skills, but there is a Shanghai logo on the crown.

For a 7120, it’s a later model. The date code is KD, April 1985.

The 1524 is pure drool material. (n/t)
