Hello,
It's been a few years since I've posted on any watch forums. I have a number of watches that are in need of regular maintenance, and last time I took my caseback wrench to a watch, it didn't go well. I can change a battery reasonably, but a few need something trickier. I'll list my various watches / their specific ills - I'm looking for a trustworthy (and not too expensive) repair shop I can mail them to, hopefully something nearby-ish (I'm near New York city).
1. Citizen Calibre 8700. Stopped working, almost certainly (but not certainly) needs a new battery (It's stopped doing it's solar charging deal). Could also use a replacement crystal. Is this a Citizen-only repair, or are there third-party watchmakers who I should go to?
2. Orsa Military Watch, This is their version of a quartz field watch. I got it second-hand, and it's got some kind of non-battery issue (I've replaced the battery before - doesn't fix the problem)where it just stops running randomly. I'd like someone to look at / fix it / replace the movement.
3. Seiko SBCM023. Just needs a battery change, but seiko's perpetual calendar movements are notoriously difficult / tricky to re-set. I'd rather someone with some measure of competence (not me, not mall battery person) did the job.
The others are pretty straightforward - anyone who can fix these can fix the others.
Who are the go-to small watchmakers you'd recommend for these kinds of little repairs? The ones who I used to use seem to be out of business.
Thanks,
-Ross
