I've had this watch in my "boneyard" for quite some time, the movement appeared to be salvageable but the case was beyond repair. I also purchased a lot of used watch cases that probably belonged to watches that were transformed into "Steampunk" creations ( I don't know for sure but it is as good a guess as any). I finally decided to try and match up the innards of my Ancre with a suitable case, this finished project is the end result. The watch is powered by a Felsa Cal. 465. The watch doesn't have a brand unless the brand is "ancre" which supposedly refers to the design of the movement. The new case is not identical to the old one but I think that it matches the style of the watch reasonably well all things considered. I overhauled the movement before the swap and found a Seconds hand to replace the missing original hand, the style of the watch calls for a red hand but all I had on hand was chrome colored. The movement fit the case well, however I had to "fabricate" something out of a tye wrap lying around to keep the movement from shaking in the case. I also replaced the original crown which was as badly "roached" as the case. Although the dial shows significant patina, it does actually looks good, adds character and counters the too new and shiny look of the case and crown. Here are the pictures of the watch and the old case for comparison.
