I was trawling eBay and saw this broken vintage piece. The hands obviously have radium paint for lume-- the brown stains on the dial are scorch marks caused by the radiation from the hands, that apparently sat, unmoved, at 5:10 for many years. This is no wimpy tritium, that just spits out electrons-- this is hard core gamma and x-rays at work.
Maybe I'm overly cautious or nervous, but I wouldn't want to touch that watch. Sure the lume is "dead" at this point, but the radium isn't. Accidentally ingesting or breathing in the radium dust from those hands if the dial were exposed could not possibly be a good thing...
