This came in a couple of weeks ago, but for reasons I won't go into here, it has taken me until today to realize who it came from, Beezerboy!
It is a way cool vintage Helbros, that wonderful company that used to make beautiful, elegant watches at very competitive prices. This is one with a silver dial with applied hour markers; numerals on the even hours and triangular, faceted sticks on the odd hours. The thing I have always liked about Helbros is the logo, a little red h in a circle just below the 12. Just a perfect little touch of red that takes the beauty of the dial up one notch.
Every time I have worn the watch, I am reminded of how comfortable these smaller vintage watches are compared to today's modern larger ones. This one crawls on my wrist and is so light and comfortable that I forget it is there until I have need to look at the time and then there it is, quietly and unobtrusively doing its job, its beautiful face a simple pleasure to look at.
Horology at its finest!
Mike (Beezerboy) enclosed a warm, heartfelt note with the watch and is now the next PMWF'r to show me kindness after the loss of my collection.
Great big thank you, Mike! This one will remain right here for a long time!
