I posted a "heads up" on an inexpensive vintage Buren automatic last week and, while I had no real desire to acquire a 2nd example of a model I already own, the same seller had this other Buren...
The description was basically the same as for the gold auto..Quote
eBay seller
Vintage Men's Buren 17 Jewels Mechanical Wind Watch. Seems to run well. There are scraches/imperfections. I don't warrant these used watches at all. Shipping is 6.00 US 48 States only.
..and the price was identical, at $18.99 shipped. Sure, you're right, I jumped on it like a hen on a June bug.

While it is of plated base metal construction, there is no brassing evident anywhere, not even on the crown. There are some scratches, obviously, but no outrageous dents or dings.
There are a few scratches on the crystal, too..

Screwdown caseback..

I couldn't decide which movement photo I liked best..

No "Swiss Made", you'll note, nor one on the dial. The case is marked "Hong Kong", so I'm wondering if the watch might be entirely Asian-made. I had no luck with the Ranfft database, nor can I find any real information on "Standard Time" in general. The closest thing in the Ranfft 'base looks to be this..

..Buren caliber 1420. The main bridge is a similar shape, though it lacks the removable cap plate as seen on my movement. Also, the balance appears to be entirely different. And this is a Swiss-made movement.
Still, I wonder if the ST might be based on the cal. 1420, with production being moved to the far east. In any case, any insight you can offer would be most appreciated.
Oh, and lest I forget, the "I-told-you-so" for MCV - this thing runs excellent!
Maybe a wee bit faster than I'd like - it checks +18/sec after 26 hours - but it winds and sets smoothly, has great amplitude, and is clean as a whistle. See, "Seems to run well" is a Good Thing.
