Greetings,

This weekend I went over to a friends house to learn the basics of cleaning and maintenancing a mechanical movement. We broke it down, cleaned the parts in his ultrasonic cleaner, and then reassembled, lubricating as we went. As we could not find an oil-chart for a 917 we used the same oils as the 6497 chart indicated. I'm guessing there is a significant difference because the 917 is really racing!!

Has anyone had this experience with a 917?

Here is some eye candy:

During dissembly but before cleaning

Bits and pieces

Fun with the balance wheel

BTW -- I got the balance wheel installed correctly the first time I tried!!! laughing (subsequent attempts weren't as fun laughing)

I'm sure that using a 6497 oil chart is fine. >>
