Always check your equipment prior to an important event! Lucky for me I had the foresight to do so! I'm doing a wedding shoot today for a very close friend of mine as a wedding gift. I made sure to take a couple test shots and noticed my focus was really creeping off. Since My SLR mostly live in smokey bars for band shoots, the sensors were all gummed up with residue. Good thing I checked rather than a major problem later today! I cleaned the sensor contacts with a little denatured alcohol and I'm golden! It's always good to test fire before!
