PMWF Fraud Help

Some Basic Rules regarding Fraud Report/Claims

  • 1) Try to resolve the matter with the seller directly BEFORE starting the reporting or claim procedure.

  • 2) Whenever you use PayPal, try to pay with your Credit Card, you will get extra buyer protection from your Credit Card company.

  • 3) Keep all receipts and pictures ready to document your claim or to document your fraud report

  • 4) Last but not least: many people like to ask their fellow forumners for advice on how to proceed. In a first step you might simply post what has happened to you without disclosing the name of the seller yet. Later if the matter cannot be resolved, you can still disclose the seller's name. However in many cases disputes could be resolved and a too early disclosure of the seller might have led to hardened fronts. Ask on the www.PMWF.com forum for advice is definitely a good start.

  • 5) Be aware of claim deadlines (30 days on PayPal claims for example, inform yourself about deadlines immediately)

Preface

Please note that there are also fraud sites that pretend to protect consumers and really do nothing. The useless RIPOFFREPORT.COM  or badbusinessbuerau.com is purely a money making machine for the site owner and does nothing for consumers. All they want is your registration money. Once you are registered you can post any true or false accusations. No one will check. This is not a fraud protection site, just a dubious way of exploiting the frustration of internet visitors.
A certain Bob in New York (and no one knows who that is, not even the ripoff site!) has posted a couple of entries, also about Reto Castellazzi there. I think that Bob from New York was trying to get back on us, because of something there was posted about a certain watch brand on our forum. I certainly suggest you buy a nice watch strap with those USD 10 that the RIPOFFREPORT owner is trying to rip out of your wallet

1. Sites to avoid that steal pictures, text and designs

Boris Leung from www.seiko5ers.com - the most notorious copy cat!

Boris Leung is the most notorious picture, text and design thief. Since years he is lifting pictures, texts, a whole FAQ from sites like the "Poor Man's" Watch Corner and Jose's (a good guy) www.Easternwatch.com. Just check Jose's watch description pages, bad boy and copycat Boris Leung (his real Chinese name is Leung Siu Bor) simply copied all. Jose and I had tried to contact Boris Leung a couple of times. He never replied. Also most annoying, he steals pictures and then places his own copyright mark on it. I would not do business with a thief!

www.Japanese-Watches.com

A new site registered by Adam Coyle in Lake Mills, Wisconsin. Obviously the site is quite new, there are no prices for watches yet. Yet the Webmaster there did not only lift and modify pictures, watch dimensions but also copied brand descriptions word by word. Again, once this site is in operation, deal with utmost care. One does not start a business by stealing materials.

There are many more sites out there that lift pictures. I can add your site's URL to this list, drop me a note to reto@loxinfo.co.th.

2. Watch forums dealing with "Bad Guys"

Please note the respective Guidelines of the fora mentioned below.  WATCHNET.com requires that a prior attempt to solve a dispute is made BEFORE posting the issue on Watchnet.com! Also no complaints there about shipping companies.
Connectingwatches.com requires (an easy) registration before posting!

Please respect Watchnet's and connectingwatches' guidelines and as always READ them before posting, thank you!

3. Ebay Problems - Please note that Ebay does often nothing even you report a FAKE. Still, please continue to report FAKES or report Fraud in order to make Ebay a bit cleaner!

The watch community will thank you for reporting Ebay problems or fakes. You are a watch expert and even it would be Meg Whitman's (Ebay owner) job to keep her market clean, please keep reporting problems and fakes. Everyday thousands of people get defrauded on Ebay because they do not have the expertise to differentiate fake from real watches. They pay hard earned money (sometimes in the thousands of dollars) for almost worthless imitations. Help them if you find a fake, maybe someday, someone is helping you too!

Ebay USA - Direct Link to Report a Problem page - http://pages.ebay.com/help/contact_us/_base/index_selection.html

Report an Ebay (USA)  FAKE  watch, unfortunately an ever more urgent matter

Please double check with watch friends or PMWFers that your spotted FAKE is really a FAKE. E.g. a reduced Omega Speedmaster chronograph has shorter indices at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock. The full size Speedmaster (Moonwatch) 3570 has all 5 minute indices with same length. It is quite easy to mix a legitimate reduced Speedmaster with a FAKE full size Speedmaster. Ask some of your friends before reporting. Thank you.

You will have to sign in, and then are able to "Report a Fake" watch via the auction number with one click!

Other countries: to make things more complicated than they should be, Ebay has different paths in every country to report problems. They are just interested in commissions it seems.

On any Ebay country side this should work:

1) Logon and know the item number you are going to report plus have all the documentation ready
2) Click on My eBay
3) Find the Resolution & Security Center in Related Links at the left side of the My eBay page.
4) Select an option and click Report a problem (this can vary for each country)

As auction items are unique amongst all Ebay countries, use the above "Report a Fake" link in any country.
