The Hong Kong "Youth Arts Festival" is taking
place right now. With performances and exhibitions. I found this a great way to
open the 10th Hong Kong Travel report, because I generally love arts and because
the youth is our biggest asset for the future of this planet and this city in a
very special way. If Hong Kong does not radically and swiftly change some of its
habits of doing business and educating its workforce, the recovery from the
economic slump will be further hindered ...
This is not meant to be a general criticism, but Hong Kong needs a well educated
youth to strive in the future. With the migration to Hong Kong SAR in 1997, with
the real estate crash from 1998 and with the WTO entry of China, Hong Kong's
main business parameters have rapidly changed. Long gone are the days, where
everybody was earning more money with real estate side deals then with the
salary.
