Turning the camera a bit to the left, you
can see the high raises behind a slum-like fishing village. But I guess the
inhabitants of this fishing village are still relatively lucky, I heard really
scaring numbers about homeless people in Bombay. When you drive to the airport
at night, you can see hundreds if not thousands of homeless wrapped only in some
cloths laying on the sidewalks.
And do not forget, Mumbai is the financial capital of India, the site of the
Indian Reserve Bank and so on. The Mumbai Stock Exchange did very well during
the last couple of years. I do not dare to imagine the poverty in the poorer
Indian towns and provinces, e.g Kolkota (new name for Calcutta), Bihar...
